About Return of the Troubadour

Art, music, literature, and film can set us free. It is all too easy to succumb to the illusion that we are powerless to transform our lives and the world around us, but it is just that – an illusion. We can make a difference. We can raise our voices and change the world. It sounds simple, but that’s because the best ideas are. We just have to make a start.

At Return of the Troubadour we believe that all of us – both as individuals and collectively – can make a difference in our world through the pursuit of the arts, a process of collaboration, and above all; song.

Human beings are more than cogs in a machine. If we explore our potential together, then each and every one of us can discover that the spark of light within us can blossom into a radiance brighter than a thousand suns. There is a transformative role for each of us as we shape our new future.

As for us, we are a group of like-minded people who have given a lot of thought about the state of today’s world and who came together to initiate change. We decided to share our ideas with some well-known artists, people we thought might be open to our way of thinking. We feel they can inspire humanity and guide us. But we have played our part, now it is over to you.

“To send light into the darkness of men’s hearts – such is the duty of the artist.”

– Robert Schumann

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to Lionel and Patricia Fanthorpe for composing the Troubadour Song.

TROUBADOUR SONG
by Lionel and Patricia Fanthorpe

We’ll welcome the lonely,
And comfort the sad;
We’ll strengthen the good things,
And fight all that’s bad.
We’ll give our protection
To those weak and frail:
The battle is fierce
But the right shall prevail.

Chorus
The battle is fierce and the battle is long,
But victory comes to the Warriors of Song,
With love in their hearts and their swords in their hands –
The Troubadours come to deliver these lands.

We’ll guide those who’re lost;
We’ll give hope to the poor –
With the courage and love
Of a brave Troubadour.
Be loyal and steadfast;
Be stalwart and true.
The Warriors of Song
Are forever with you.

Chorus

We’ll never give up
And we’ll never give in.
We’ll fight by the side of
Our Troubadour kin.
Together we’ll conquer
Through storm, fire and flood
For nothing can vanquish
The Troubadours’ blood.

Chorus
